I needed the toilet unit to help me stand up because it was getting difficult for me with my bad knees. It came in a relatively small box in pieces that my son helped me put together. It was an easy assembly. The unit is sturdy and holds my big butt well. So you can trust it for big people. It adjusts as you can see in the video we had to make it wider for me. The space was pretty small as the apartment is a studio. I got it to work easily. Good recommendation for me. Go ahead and buy it. The price was good and the shipping was quick. I sound like a commercial. Anyway, I’m a real guy. With a real fat butt.
Easy to assemble, love to ability to adjust the height. We were reluctant to install permanent grab bars for my 92 year old mother who lives with us, but at the same time I'd read comments for similar chairs sold by other sites indicating safety concerns for the chair not gripping the floor safely. Some comments even reported the chair crashing into the toilet tank and breaking it. I'm glad I took a chance on Pelegon. This chair grips the floor safely (the floor is tightly laid marble), and at the adjusted high setting, it allows her to sit and stand independently. It's easy to clean and lightweight to move. My only suggestion - offer more color choices.
Easy to assemble and position in toilet area. Only suggestion for improvement is adding a suction base to the 4 legs instead of a regular rubber covered leg base. This would make the unit more stable as one sits down.
Great help for recovering from foot surgery and needing a taller toilet.
This rail and seat is just what we needed. We initially thought of grab bars and a taller toilet, but the installation and time to schedule it was longer than we wanted. We had this item in a few days and it’s really been helpful during my husband’s chemotherapy treatments.
It’s more light weight than I expected
But it supports me well. The foam handle was torn a bit but I can fix it
With tape. The light weight makes it easier to move around which is a plus
Since I live alone and move it myself.
You may want to protect the foam
So it doesn’t get damaged in shipping
On future orders. I am a satisfied cus-
Tomer and look forward to the u shaped shower chair soon . S.V.
Raised Toilet Seat with Handles - Adjustable 3 in 1 Commode Chair for Toilet with Arms - This is a very useful toilet seat for seniors. Its three functions are depend on either as serving as an attachment with the house toilet or serving as a stand-alone pilot toilet for people who cannot move fast enough. The attached bowel is very easy to take out and wash with the seat flip up. The heights can be adjusted to the legs to serve as a toilet raiser for people who have problem sitting down. The cushion on the seat is very soft to sit on and the back is quite wide to support. However, the opening in the seat is 8 inches in diameter. That is a little bit wide and would fit large people better. Normal sized people would likely fall in the opening. This isn’t a problem when used as a toilet raiser. The whole thing is very sturdy and very light to move around. The frames, seat and back are manufactured very well. Every part is very carefully labeled to match the instruction sheet. That is very considerate and exceptional. It is very easy to assemble.
A good toilet seat riser - This toilet seat riser is well made and was easy to assemble because everything just clicked together. The seat is well padded and the backrest is plastic. One thing I did find was that it's a little wobbly for me getting on and off of it because I have balance issues (I feel a bar on each side going from the front to the back legs would make it more stable). I'm giving it five stars because it's an excellent shower chair but for me I just don't feel safe using it because of my instability.
This 3 In 1 Commode Chair Works For Practically Any Mobility Issue Your Loved One May Have... - This Pelegon Raised Toilet Seat was so very easy to assemble and it can provide 3 functions in 1 Chair. It can be used as a Raised Toilet Seat to fit practically any toilet on the market, a Bedside Commode with a large bucket and also function as a Shower Chair. It has a weight capacity of up to 400 lbs., you can adjust the overall height from 19.5" to 23.5" to suit just about any height individual and it has a comfortable 22" width between the two armrests.I really appreciate all of the features that this chair has encompassed so I don't believe it's too much of a stretch to give this Pelegon product an Overall Rating of 5 Stars. Actually the only things I would change on this chair is with the commode bucket, if I had my way I would have provided a handle on the bucket as well as a lid but I didn't see that as a big enough negative to warrant taking it down to 4 Stars... If you have a Loved One that is handicapped with a mobility issue or as in my case when my wife had two separate knee replacements or maybe you or a family member that is looking at having a hip replacement surgery then this is just what the doctor would suggest as a particular need after the surgery for yourself or your Loved One!
Perfect solution - Purchased this chair specifically to help my mother in the shower. It allows her easy access to all her "parts". Very stable and durable. If you care for someone, this may be the answer. I had to drill additional adjustment holes in the legs because my mother is very short.
Portable Commode/Toilet w/Hand Rails & Backrest, Can be Freestanding or Over an existing Toilet - This portable commode/toilet with hand rails is tall and sturdy. It's not difficult to put together, but, it's not simple. There are a number of pieces that need to be pressed into each other -- the parts are numbered and easy to follow, but sometimes a bar slides over a peg that needs to be compressed, which is not the easiest. I've included a number of photos of the majority of steps putting it together. The legs are adjustable and can move higher or lower which makes this very versatile. The included commode pail can be stored flat and then expanded as needed (see photos). The arms and the toilet seat are both made of a very soft, cushioned and comfortable material. The frame and arms can be used over an existing toilet, or can be used free-standing. On the lowest setting, the frame fit over my toilet with a bit of room beneath, and my heels cannot touch the ground on the highest setting. In my uses, placing this frame over an existing full sized porcelain toilet on the lowest setting (with the commode/pail removed), there was sometimes a slight drip onto the existing toilet seat, but it was easy to wipe away, and with the existing seat lifted, there was no external dripping. It feels sturdy and held a lot of body weight. It includes a backrest, and since it's relatively easy to build and take-apart, it's compact enough to store for a family member or friend who only needs this type of device periodically.Almost everything I can think of to say about this are Pros... if I had to describe Cons it would be: 1) since the commode pail is flexible and can be flattened or pushed out to create a bowl-like pail, I think that the rubber could get worn out if it is made flat and pushed back out many times (see photos), but even if it did wear out that would be relatively easy to replace, and 2) the solder/welding at the edges of the rods looks striated -- the metal frame feels strong and sturdy -- but the welding has large metal textures/swirls (see photos).Overall, I rated this 5 stars and I highly recommend it. If anything changes regarding durability, I will come back and update. Hope this helps! :-)
Excellent elevated toilet seat, bedside commode, or shower chair.; installation a cinch - 4.5 stars - This commode took me 15 minutes to install. I had one C-type clip left over as five clips are supplied but only three are needed. This not only can be snapped together and adjusted easily but this unit has several uses. It can be used as a bedside commode, as a raised seat over an existing toilet with the grab bars on the side, or as a shower chair in a very large walk-in shower. It is also sturdy and comfortable to sit on. The height is adjustable. There is just a tad of wobble but nothing that concerns me. This gets 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars from me. I also love the color. This is well worth the purchase at the current price of $99.97. However, if a chair with a covered commode pan and covered seat are desired, then I recommend thiswhich sells for about $30 more.
Very EASY Assembly - Sturdy - Comfortable - This was so VERY EASY to assemble. It took about 20 minutes from start to finish - which included unpacking: opening the box, taking every piece out of each plastic bag, glancing at the manual… which all took about 8 minutes, then assembly = about 12 minutes (and I move slowly). The manual is the BEST manual I have ever received. It is a large high quality booklet (the size of notebook paper = 8.5’ x 11”) … with nice large print and very easy to follow directions. You can scan the QR code in the booklet for assembly instructions or go to a website - however, I did not need video or web instructions, so I didn't use those options. The pieces are labeled - which was SO helpful. The diagram instructions were so simple and clear. The pieces all fit together. The height is easily adjustable. I am 5’3’ and on the shortest setting my toes touched the floor, but not my heels - which tells you that this is going to be very good for people much taller than me too. (It says the height is 19."’ to 23.5”.) The seat is so very comfortable with a nice soft thick cushion. The arm handrails have comfortable soft padded foam around them. This can be used as (1) a raised toilet seat over the toilet, (2) optional use of the silicone collapsable commode to use as a bedside commode, or (3) shower chair. This is very sturdy and comfortable. Also, this manual gives tips (in nice large print) how to move your body when getting on & off this seat.
Great seat with more than one use - The Pelegon toilet seat is great for its intended use as well as others. It comes packaged very well and delivery through Amazon was on time. It comes unassembled in about 20 pieces which looks a little daunting BUT it is simple to assemble. Whoever designed this product put a lot of thought into its assembly. Most of the parts are labeled with a letter which matches up with a letter on the main frame. I'm in my late 60's and after a quick glance at the instructions I put this together in 6 minutes and 17 seconds. Yes, I timed it just to see how long it would take. Absolutely NO tools are needed to assemble this and it is as easy as it gets.Fully assembled it weighs 8 pounds and 4 ounces without the insert. The collapsable insert weighs an additional 7. 5 ounces. The height is adjustable from 19.5 inches to 23.5 inches (floor to top of the seat). This will fit over any standard-size toilet. The collapsable insert allows this toilet to be used as a stand-alone bedside toilet. When not in use the insert is 1.75 inches in height and when fully extended it is 4.5 inches in height. What makes this device invaluable for elderly or disabled persons is the padded arms/handles that help with leverage to stand up. The seat is also very soft and cushioned while in use. The foot pads are wide and well attached to the legs making this very stable. It does have a little shake to it when touched, but once seated it is solid and strong. It has a 400-pound weight capacity which should be suitable for most people.I ordered this product to be used in the shower for handicapped use. With solid feet, padded seat, and padded armrests it is perfect. It is also wide enough for larger frame people so easy to get in and out of.It is a fantastic product that I fully recommend.
Sturdy and comfortable - This potty chair was easy to put together. All of the parts were very clearly labeled. The seat is soft and comfortable. The height is adjustable. It is very sturdy and will easily hold the 400lbs. as it states. It is easy to clean because you simply remove the bowl and dump it, or you can you potty liners. The only thing I dislike about it is that it doesn't have a lid. It also has a dent in the seat where one of the poles was pressing into it in the box. It hasn't gone away and it's been a few weeks.
Nice Surprise - Great, sturdy commode/shower chair. It says that it’s good for up to 400 lbs, which strength-wise sounds appropriate but the width may be a problem since it’s not adjustable. The directions are quite clear but the parts could be labeled better. Still it was easy to assemble in about 10 minutes. The seat is comfortable and the width of the chair is good for the average adult. It is easy to get on and off using the padded arms. I’m 5’5” and needed to adjust the height to the lowest setting for my short legs. My favorite thing is the collapsible toilet pan. It is of a softish plastic and can be popped out for use or folded in for storage. This chair would be good for over the toilet, as well. I deducted a star because it doesn’t come with an insert for the hole, like some other types do.
Well-Made and Comfortable! - I got this raised toilet seat with handles for a relative who has trouble getting up and down off of her toilet unassisted. The higher seat and sturdy arm rests and stability of this raised toilet seat enable her to lower herself and lift herself up safely and easily. She isn't very tall, but this seat has a wide range of height adjustment. As a reference, my 5'10" husband only needed to use the middle height adjustment. The toilet seat has a soft cushioned seat, making it very comfortable to sit on.This raised toilet also comes with a bucket so it can be used as a bedside commode. The raised toilet seat arrives unassembled. Assembly is quick and easy, with easy-to-follow instructions. No tools or hardware are required. The components simply slide and lock in place with push buttons. This raised toilet seat supports up to 400 pounds, making it usable by many people. This raised toilet seat is well made, comfortable and versatile, and I highly recommend it!
Multi-usage - So this is intended for a person who is recovering from a hip surgery, or a spinal cord surgery, but this can also be used an an upgraded potty for your LO. My daughter is very tall for her age and didn't quite like the potty seats that you can place right on the toilet seat. The ones we tried for her would fall in the toilet, be uncomfortable, or pinch her fingers when she tried to adjust herself. So, I stumbled upon this and thought, "why not try it?!" My daughter likes it because she has handle bars so she can shift herself, a soft, thick, padded seat for her bottom, and the feet do not move. My daughter is a wiggler. It also can be used as a bedside commode; we've all been there where you really need to go to the bathroom, but you just can't make it! I like that the bed pan can easily fold and flatten, for easy storage, if you're not intending to use it as a bed side commode. The seat is super soft and comfy. It is easy to clean and assembly was a breeze! You receive a manual and all the parts are labeled. It is adjustable so you can use whatever height you need. A great buy for any loved one, who needs assistance and most importantly something safe!
Never thought I would rate a hip replacement toilet raised toilet seat as “love it” but… I do! Easy to put together and comfortable- will be easy to clean and take apart when I no longer need it!
This REALLY helped my 91 year old mother stay independent when using the restroom. I allows her the dignity of not needing help in the bathroom any more. The quality is very good and it is very sturdy.
Was relatively easy to assemble. Is well made. Gave 4 stars since I will be able to evaluate better when I can bend my knee without excessive pain to sit and rise off of it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is an elevated toilet seat with handles recommended after hip surgery?
Post-surgery guidelines strictly advise against bending your hips past 90 degrees. A raised seat elevates your resting position, ensuring your hips remain safely above your knees, while the handles provide the leverage to stand without twisting.
Will this raised toilet seat fit my bathroom's toilet?
Yes, this riser is designed with a universal fit to accommodate most standard (round) and elongated toilet bowls securely.
Do I need tools to install this toilet riser with handles?
Not at all. It features a simple, tool-free locking mechanism that secures the riser directly to the toilet bowl in just a few minutes.
Are the handles removable?
Yes. If you have a small bathroom, need to transfer from a wheelchair, or simply prefer more space, the handles can be easily detached or attached based on your specific comfort and space requirements.
How do I clean a raised toilet seat?
The heavy-duty plastic and rust-resistant aluminum frame are completely waterproof. You can wipe the entire unit down using your preferred standard bathroom cleaners or disinfectant wipes.
Is it safe for bariatric use?
All Pelegon products undergo strict lab testing for structural integrity. This heavy-duty raised toilet seat with handles securely supports standard to heavy weight capacities, ensuring no buckling or shifting during transfers.
Will it scratch or damage my ceramic toilet bowl?
No. The locking mechanism is designed with protective, non-slip contact points that hold the riser firmly in place without scratching or damaging the porcelain.
